Alison Duff
Artwork Detail
Alison Duff was one of Auckland’s foremost sculptors in the 1950s. She used concrete for modelling, as bronze casting was prohibitively expensive. These figures are a lesson in body language: the man looks down at his newspaper, reading; the woman stares straight ahead, lost in thought.
The sculptures may be exhibited as a portrait of a couple on a
bus, or as two people completely alone.
