Andre Masson
Artwork Detail
André Masson worked across the arts and theatre design. His work played an important role in the development of Surrealism and Abstract Expressionism and was profoundly affected by wartime experiences, causing a search for personal images of generation and metamorphosis. Both Masson and Joan Miró experimented with automatic drawing, so that Masson's Cubist imagery developed a rich symbolic content.
