Taro Shinoda
Artwork Detail
Taro Shinoda is based in Tokyo where he was born in 1964. His practice reflects his deep consideration of nature, humanity, philosophy and science and engages in a highly conceptual and experimental artistic process that traverses video, sculpture, installation, performance, painting and photography.
During his residency at the McCahon House in French Bay, from August through to December 2017, Shinado produced two screen prints proposing sculptures for the Auckland Art Gallery's East Terrace and inside the clock tower's spiral staircase.
Many of Shinodas’ sculptures are fabricated using the skills he acquired during his years of working as a manufacturer of steel frame supports.
