Leo Bensemann
Artwork Detail
Imaginary portraits are a feature of Leo Bensemann’s paintings between 1934 and 1938. Self-consciously medieval in its treatment of the figure, the hunter wears an animal skin jerkin and a peaked cap while carrying his spear. Looked upon by an owl, the huntsman is shown in a barren landscape surrounded by marble outcrops.
