Has cabin fever set in? Exhausted all the movie options? Looking for an outdoor activity for the whole family?
Become an Urban Explorer today!
What is Urban Explorers?
Get active and competitive with this free family activity. Urban Explorers is a self-guided trail through some of Auckland’s coolest landmarks. Families will need to work together to complete the missions and solve the puzzle.
How do you play?
The Urban Explorers game can be found on the goosechase app.
- Download the goosechase app
- Log in or create an account (one account only per family)
- Search ‘Urban Explorers’ and select the game
- Complete the missions within the game.
To complete the missions, you will need to find the answers. Some answers will be outside, some will be about a boat, some will be about great New Zealand artists and some will need a photo or video to complete.

Where are the missions located?
The missions are scattered throughout the Auckland CBD, with the majority around the Aotea Centre, Auckland Art Gallery and the New Zealand Maritime Museum. You will be solving clues and missions for about 2 hours.
Public Transport
With a registered AT HOP card, children aged 5-15 years can travel free of charge on buses and trains on weekends and on public holidays. Children under five travel free any time when accompanied by a fare-paying passenger.
Being a good Urban Explorer
There are a few things that you can do that will keep you safe when you are on the trail. Look out for cars, watch the road not your device when crossing and make sure you keep two meters apart from other Urban Explorers.
