This class is based on the Mary Quant Mini Style dress available to download here V&A · Sew Your Own: Mary Quant Style Minidress and aims to give an insight into Quant’s relationship to home sewing, as well as demystify some of the pattern-cutting techniques behind her iconic designs, with lots of fit, fabric and pattern-hacking advice along the way. You will leave the class full of inspiration and armed with all the knowledge you need to make your own Quant-inspired minidress fit to perfection and with all the dream design details.
Alice & Co Patterns are designed in London by mother and daughter team Alice and Lilia.
Alice is a designer, pattern cutter and teacher, with over 30 years experience making fabulous made-to-measure clothes for women under her label Alice & Co.
Lilia has been making her own clothes since she could thread a needle, and now works as a Textile Conservation Display Specialist at the Victoria & Albert Museum.
They believe that dress making should be fun, with fast and simple techniques so you can sew inventive and stylish outfits at home that fit well and you love to wear. They are passionate about demystifying the art of pattern-cutting to the home sewer through their classes and patterns and love to share how fashion history can inspire modern designs.
This class will be recorded and sent to all participants.
