event Details
Join us for our special event “Is it Worth Protecting?” inspired by the work of Dr Bronwyn Holloway-Smith and Sue Elliott who are leading an initiative – Public Art Heritage Aotearoa New Zealand in partnership with Manatū Taonga Ministry for Culture and Heritage.
Aotearoa New Zealand’s 20th Century Public Art Heritage has been overlooked by New Zealand’s art history. As a result, a significant number of large-scale artworks by the nation’s most talented and successful artists have been lost or destroyed, including artworks of Louise Henderson. But many artworks may still exist languishing in storage, concealed behind walls, or- undocumented and their authorship is forgotten - hiding in plain sight. Join our experts as they make a case for selected examples of Public Artworks and their national significance and ongoing protection.
