Pacific Sisters present Art After Hours: F'Rock Da Base

Join us for a one-night-only takeover of Auckland Art Gallery and enjoy a special night packed with Māori and Pasifika music, fashion, spoken word and activism.

Relive the spirit of Auckland in the ‘90s and experience this boundary-crossing late-night event that includes a Mega-Freestyle-Frock-Action-Finale with legends past and present.

Celebrate the myth, magic, music and more, as live music and moving image activate the Gallery.

Featuring:

The Pacific Sisters – meet the Sisters in full costume and get to know members of this collective of Māori and Pacific artists, fashion designer and performers

‘Something Old, Something New’ – enjoy curated performances of spoken word and poetry delivered in cabaret-style by the Pacific Sisters

Live tatau demonstrations – see live demonstrations by Croc Tatau, Uhi Tapu and Moko Ink

DJ sets – soak up night-long, rotating sets from DJs DLT, Manuel Bundy and Linda T.

Music – catch live music from four-piece band, Whaea and the Rumble

Aunty Fa’ani and RoBro’s DiscoVERY Centre – experience Aunty Fa’ani and RoBro’s interactive art installation developed in collaboration with FAFSWAG’s Jermaine Dean.

F’Rocking fashion finale – drink in the drama as over 30 designers F’Rock the Gallery, using its multiple levels as their runway and including garments from the Pacific Sisters’ collection.

Plus:

Food truck and bar – fill up on bespoke, event-inspired food and drink available from the Gallery’s forecourt and atrium bar

Entry to all exhibitions – enjoy late-night, after-hours viewing of Pacific Sisters: He Toa Tāera | Fashion Activists, the just-opened Guerrilla Girls: Reinventing the ‘F’ Word – Feminism! and many more exhibitions of New Zealand and international art.
