The Contemporary Benefactors (CBs) started as a key philanthropic group in 2013 to support and grow the presentation of ambitious contemporary art exhibitions and programming at Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki.   Since then, the CBs have funded more than 15 significant contemporary commissions, offering Aucklanders and the wider NZ public the chance to gain a greater understanding and appreciation of contemporary art and ideas.

Led by the Senior Curator of Global Contemporary Art, CBs are given unprecedented opportunities for exposure to contemporary art as they follow artworks and exhibitions in development through a series of talks, behind-the-scenes curator-led tours and occasions to meet local and international artists. Together they learn, discuss and socialise around contemporary art in an informative and convivial way.

By becoming a Contemporary Benefactor in support of Auckland Art Gallery, you will not only be enriching the contemporary programme offered by the Gallery, but also your own experience of contemporary art.

In addition, CBs are offered:

Donor acknowledgement and recognition connected to every project
Invitations to exhibitions previews and openings
Free unlimited entry to all AAG exhibitions
All AAG Member benefits including access to our Members Lounge
10% off our café and Gallery shop*.
