Teuane Tibbo
Artwork Detail
Teuane Tibbo started making art in the 1960s. She was a self-taught artist whose subject area was devoted to memories of ‘old Samoa’. This can be linked to a yearning for her childhood. Tibbo favoured scenes that invoked a sense of an enchanted Pacific island as much as they provide insight into traditions that she must have observed or participated in. Her signature style was her ‘perspective’ or birds-eye view of events occurring, as depicted in Firewalkers. (Te Moananui a Kiwa, 2005)
