City lights

City lights by Milan Mrkusich

Artwork Detail

The artist originally described this painting as 'a study of the advancing and receding properties of colours.' City lights departs from conventional representations of urban landscape to generate a complex and kaleidoscopic rhythm. The colours float in and out of 'patch-worked' colour fields within one of the most acclaimed abstract paintings created in New Zealand.
