Robert Procter
Artwork Detail
This moonlight serenade on a gondola crossing the misty Venetian lagoon fits perfectly with the romantic stereotype of la Serenissima, Italy’s Serene City. Christchurch artist Robert Procter sojourned in Venice during a grand tour of Europe, making sketches which he later worked up into finished studio compositions. (From Dusk till Dawn, 2002)
