Selwyn Muru began working full time painter in 1962, while also working as part-time Art Tutor at Mt Eden Prison and a professional pianist. This portrait of the Christian apostle Peter I, is exemplary of works Muru produced during his early period in which he was experimenting with a variety of styles and genres, including portraits, still life’s and landscapes.
