Rebecca Swan
Artwork Detail
On page 39 of Assume Nothing, Melisa states; ‘Some people have the attitude that I have no right to look like I do and call myself a woman. They don’t want to see me for who I am. They try to soften it, or even tell me that I’m not the gender that I am. That’s how far some people go to make it fit or right for them. My Ideal world is about learning to love myself, so that what other people say can’t touch me. People are always going to say stuff. I can’t stop ignorant people being ignorant.’
