Shigeyuki Kihara
Artwork Detail
In a fashion shoot for Pulp magazine, Yuki Kihara dressed her friends in cutting-edge pieces of contemporary jewellery, stating ‘I wanted the Savage Nobility series to continue the legacy from where Rosanna Raymond had left with her fashion styling work for Planet magazine in the 90s. Raymond, a prominent artist of Pacific heritage, pioneered the incorporation of Pacific art and design into Auckland’s mainstream fashion scene. This shot features a breastplate pendant by Niki Hastings-McFall, a collar necklace by Chris Charteris and a necklace by Sofia Tekela-Smith, three leading contemporary jewellers.
