Robert Ellis
Artwork Detail
An interest in maps, aerial views and attitudes to land, inspired by working as an aerial survey photographer was evident in Robert Ellis' 1968 "Motorway" series. The graphic emphasis continues in later work based on Te Rawhiti, his wife's home, (a small Maori community in Northland), and Rakaumangamanga, a mountain sacred to Nga Puhi people.
