Colin McCahon (1919-1987) is arguably New Zealand’s most well-known artist. Working primarily as a painter, he also produced many works on paper and occasionally book illustrations, stained glass windows, set designs and jewellery.
This archive consists of over 75 information files on the artist. The Research Library began collecting content for the files in the early 1960s. As well as original manuscript material, the files include photographs of the artist and his work, exhibition catalogues and ephemera, journal articles and press clippings.
