Archive Collection Detail

Fiona Connor (b. 1981) is a contemporary artist from Aotearoa New Zealand, currently based in Los Angeles. She completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Arts at the Elam School of Fine Arts, University of Auckland, in 2004. Connor furthered her studies at the University of California, San Diego, and the University of Barcelona, graduating in 2011 with a Master of Fine Arts from the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) in Los Angeles.

Connor's work, spanning installations, sculpture, and architecture, has been exhibited extensively both in New Zealand and internationally. She was a finalist for the Walters Prize in 2010 and received the Chartwell Trust Award for Patronage in 2011.

In addition to her individual practice, Connor co-founded two artist-run spaces in Auckland: Special and Gambia Castle. She remains active in artist-run initiatives and curates the Laurel Doody Library Supply, an annual distribution of artist books and ephemera to subscribing libraries.

This archive consists of artist books, ephemera and objects which document performances and exhibitions by Connor. Additionally, this archive contains limited edition objects produced by artists for the Laurel Doody Library Supply.

Publications from the Laurel Doody Library Supply can be found in the EH McCormick Research Library online database through the Auckland Libraries online catalogue.
