Frances Hunt attended Elam School of Fine Arts when in her forties. She was a student and friend of painter, John Weeks (1886-1965) and went on to be an active member of the Rutland Group. She exhibited often with the Auckland Society of Arts, as well as in two centennial exhibitions of New Zealand art. Her subject matter was usually landscapes, but she also painted still lifes and portraits. This archive consists of press clippings (n=76) regarding the Auckland Society of Arts, as well as general articles on art from predominantly the 1930s and 40s; one drawing; one exhibition catalogue, four pages of notes and one item of correspondence.
