Francesco Ciseri (Artist), Guido Reni (After)
Artwork Detail
Francisco Ciseri studied under his better known father, Antonio, who ran a painting school in Florence. This copy was made from a painting by Guido Reni in the Uffizi. While little has been written in English about the Ciseri, there is a wide range of texts available in Italian. Copying from Old Masters remained popular, both as a teaching aid and to produce copies for eager patrons, well into the 20th century.
