2-3.30pm

event Details

Join us for a New Zealand Sign Language tour for Deaf visitors through The Walters Prize 2024 and Aotearoa Contemporary.
The Walters Prize is Aotearoa New Zealand’s largest and most prestigious contemporary art award. Established in 2002 and now in its 11th iteration, the prize showcases and promotes contemporary art, and has, since its inception, shaped emergent discussion about contemporary New Zealand art.

Aotearoa Contemporary is a showcase of what is new and current in Aotearoa New Zealand’s diverse cultural environment.

Both exhibitions sit side by side, offering a vital platform for contemporary from Aotearoa every three years at the Gallery.

This 90-minute tour will be led by Deaf artist Abbie Twiss with supporting interpretation by Platform Interpreting NZ

Twiss has worked as an artist, art teacher and interpreter in Melbourne and Aotearoa. A graduate of University of Auckland’s Elam School of Fine Arts, Twiss has regularly exhibited since 1994.

The tour is limited to 15 places.  Please book your place/s through the link below.
